Complete beginners welcome.
The People’s Palace and Winter Gardens in Glasgow Green are gracefully designed, the stone, metal and glass of these two buildings which are attached together contrast and complement each other. It was designed by Alexander B. McDonald and opened in 1898. There are many things to doodle and sketch, from the shapes in the windows or stonework, to the textures of the palms and organic shapes of plants, to the interior space. We will meet inside the Winter Gardens near the entrance by the cafe. It is a relaxed, comfortable space to be in, ideal for some quiet time to enjoy some drawing 🙂 The building may have to close indefinitely from 2019 due to repairs due, so this may be the last chance to meet and sketch there!
This is a very relaxed group, there will be no pressure to make any finished drawings, the emphasis is just to be there together and enjoy some mark making and sketching of some of the plants, window shapes or interior. We will start with some doodly fun drawings before settling down for one or two longer drawings. We will enjoy working with our own materials pack with different papers, pencils and pens.
Blair will lead the session with some demos and give friendly guidance and suggestions if you need any help. It will be nice to have some time to take in the atmosphere and being aware of the space and engaging with the plants and details we might not have noticed before.
Come along and enjoy some fun drawings!
No booking is needed.
