About
In this workshop we will first spend time exploring stories and images of mythical beasts and dragons in Eastern and Western traditions.
From here we will move into a meditative journey – using imagination and visualisation we will capture some of the shapes and textures of these intriguing creatures. We will also collect textures outdoors from the woodland surrounding the workshop space.
Once we have caught some glimpses, we will work with paint, pencils, ink, clay and other materials to create our own collection of fantastical beings.
The day will be led by Margaret Kerr and Blair Thomson. Margaret is a mindfulness teacher, counsellor and mountain leader working outdoors with groups regularly, with her own art practice working with trees, water and the land, and will lead us outside. Blair is an artist and meditator, a member of Glasgow Zen Group who studied Sho calligraphy and markmaking in Japan with Master Wakabayashi.
