Discovering Temples and Shrines in Japanese

We had a Japanese spiritual and cultural life theme for our November meeting of Kanji Club with 寺社 Jisha – Temples and Shrines – we wrote and pronounced these and a few other fascinating related kanji including 神 kami – gods/soul and 社 sha – shrine/ company/office.

The new kanji we looked at in the quiz (continuing from last group, related to mon 門 gateway, a picture of a gate):

関 kan/seki      connection or barrier;
開 kai/a.ku/hira.ku open or unseal or spread out;
悶 mon/moda.eru      worry/ be in agony (heart stuck in gate).

Many thanks to the participants for kindly sharing their images to add to this post 😊
