Autumn Colours – discovering Japanese Kanji and Chinese

Everyone had great fun with a timely autumnal and colour theme for October with 紅葉 Kōyō – Autumn Colours. We wrote and pronounced these characters, and discovered their history, as well as more colours 🍂 investigating the meanings of the radical and kanji parts.

The new kanji we looked at in the quiz (which Blair related to mon 門 gateway, a picture of a gate) were: 耳 mimi ear and 聞 mon/bun/kiku – to listen, hear or ask. Blair compared these with other kanji characters using the mon radical.

We had red and golden autumn leaves for colour inspiration 🍁 Please join us any month on the second Monday, we have varied themes to help learners engage with Japanese and Chinese characters and practice pronunciation and writing.
