At our Shodō calligraphy group (on the last or second last Monday monthly on Zoom), we brushed two characters Kōyo 紅葉 , meaning Autumn Colours. The kanji literally means crimson red leaves, so we celebrated and embraced the autumn season through Shodо̄ 🍁
We brushed the two kanji together focussing on the Sōsho style (which reminds Blair of branches and leaves) and the Kaisho style too 🍂 We had some tigs and leaves for inspiration too and making some marks to warm up before some stroke practice.
Blair read this lovely wee haiku by Tatsuko –
Fallen Leaves
With a rustling sound
Tatsuko
Fallen leaves pursue and pass
Others on the ground
Thanks to the participants for sending their calligraphy photos below.
