At the start of the year our theme for our language and cultural Kanji Club was 天気 Tenki – Weather, literally Heaven’s Energy. Having been wintry in Glasgow and for many of the zoom participants elsewhere, it was perfect timing for our kanji exploration of snow and weather! ☃️☔ And it was lovely to have the group back on after the holidays, everyone looked genki and well!

We looked at common weather and nature themed kanji (such as rain, snow, wind) and related vocabulary, learning about the radicals and how to read and write the characters.

Some of the kanji we enjoyed investigating during the quiz were 杏 ‘anzu apricot’, 札 ‘satsu banknote/ talisman’, 汁 ‘shiru soup’, 汗 ‘ase sweat’, 用 ‘yō use/service’.
